Hi I'm Laura!

It all started in my kitchen!  When I signed up for a class on making butters and balms, I had no idea I would fall in love with the process of creating high-quality skincare products. My new knowledge challenged me, and I immediately looked at the ingredients in the products I had been using. There were things I questioned and found concerning. I knew that I wanted to make products with clean and pure ingredients, and I wanted to know where those ingredients originated.

More To The Story…

The process was experimental and involved extensive research and coursework to determine what oils, butters and essentials oils would work best for my maturing skin. I used my own handmade products for several years. I asked friends and family to try my creations and provide feedback.  While all of this was happening, I also noticed a positive change in my skin. My family and friends, my “testers”, saw the same changes. They told me that I should introduce my products to others with similar skin concerns – dryness, uneven skin tone, fine lines.

Lois & Mae Skincare celebrates and values women as they age. We are passionate about providing natural, clean and enjoyable skincare to support the skin’s natural progression.

My Inspiration

Lois and Mae came into existence in 2021, the name a tribute to my grandmothers, Lois and Maefrank.  Both of these women inspired me with their courage and independence during a time when women had few opportunities outside the home.  They held jobs while raising children – Maefrank was a single parent at a time single parents had little support; Lois became the business face of a family company.  Both women were resourceful and innovative, using simple and pure ingredients, whether it was for a meal or a homemade product.  Lois even grew luffas in her garden, then gave them away to friends and family to exfoliate skin.
